You are right, but the usage of skype or voip wants stable and enough bandwith for voip. Especially outside the huge cities there is no UMTS avaiable – only GPRS. I be inflicted with tried, but with GPRS voip is not really amusing. Better to use call trough solution then. But inside cities it works very well.
